Setting Up A MiniDLNA Server On A TonidoPlug

MiniDLNA is an alternative to the Tonido’s built-in media server. It is open source and fully DLNA compliant. It is not available in the Debian Squeeze repositories and must be built from the source.

This guide adapted from the postings of pmcallihan in the Tonido Tips & Tricks Forum: <http://www.tonido.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=4193>

How To Reset the Operating System on a Tonido Plug 2 To Factory Defaults

This guide will show you how to restore the operating system (rootfs) on the Tonido Plug 2’s internal flash (NAND) to its original factory settings. To do so, you will delete the existing operating system and replace it with a fresh install. The process is very similar to setting up a USB drive to boot the plug.

This not the same as flashing the plug with a new image and it will not change any U-boot settings.

Booting a TonidoPlug from an External USB or Internal SATA Drive

Here are the steps that you need to follow to put a root filesystem on an external USB drive or internal SATA drive (TonidoPlug 2 only). The process for building a bootable drive is the same whether the drive is an internal SATA or external USB.

These same steps can also be used from the command prompt on any Linux OS to build a bootable USB for the TonidoPlug. This is useful if you need to create a “rescue” USB for your plug.

Transmission
Transmission’VOID

Introduction

Transmission is a feature rich and well supported bit torrent client.

There are two ways to install Transmission on the TonidoPlug:

	* The Easy Way: From the Debian Squeeze repositories using the apt-get
 * Pros: Fast, simple. Up and running in minutes
 * Cons: Not the latest version of Transmission. Lacks features like blocklists and is somewhat less stable.
 * Current version: 2.03
